Our Day Out

When OUR DAY OUT first aired, over the Christmas Holidays of 1977, I think every school kid in Liverpool must have watched it.
The scene where the kids shoplift in the café is a carbon copy of a scene we played out in real life on a similar school trip to Llanberis, a couple of years earlier.

This is one of my favourite plays ever. I haven’t seen it since it first aired, but I remembered every scene. Everything about this play is so good. The characters are real, the script is spot on. The kids performances are some of the best acting you will ever see.

Willy Russell is a genius. This play will make you laugh and cry
